There are many attractions in the area. Downham Market itself has much to offer, and the local rivers, including the Great Ouse, are excellent for fishing. There is a museum called Collectors' World on the river bank, and nearby Denver Windmill has been restored to working order - well worth a visit. Further on from the windmill is Denver Sluice, a complex of river and waterways, and Welney Wildfowl Trust.

Further afield, children will love the priest's hole at Oxburgh Hall (N.T.) and gardeners can admire its parterre or the gardens at Peckover House , Wisbech (also N.T.). There are plenty of seaside places, both resorts and quiet beaches, to suit young and old. King's Lynn has a number of historic buildings to visit. Alternatively, you may prefer to relax at home and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The Downham Market festival takes place at the end of May, lasting a week, and King's Lynn has its festival towards the end of July, with many performances by a range of artists and some free street shows.
